Japanese Film Festival

Melbourne does not a Japan Foundation branch but they have  Japan Film Festival. Thank God for small favours. Nite and me decided to volunteer for this event. The film festival starts from 29 Nov 2012 to 9 Dec 2012 and you can also volunteer for the preparation work that starts early November. We volunteered for 3 days but fate has it, we accidentally volunteer for 1 more extra session. Details in next blog or when I get Nite's pictures, whichever is earlier hahaha.

The first volunteer session involved distributing pamphlets to the shops along Sydney Street in Brunswick.
I start to like Afro Hair after whole day of looking this face

There were 4 volunteers and 1 coordinator. The other 2 volunteers were a Jap and Indo-Chinese couple. We were given a stack each to distribute and some tips on how to distribute. In retrospect I felt we were given more compare to the other 2 but we still manage to distribute all of them largely due to our lack of discrimination.

Please take one

We basically went into every single shop including dental clinic, Asian grocery, optometrist shop besides those eatery places. Most were really nice and allow us to put some pamphlets in their shop. We suspect the other group was more selective as they still have pamphlets left at the end of the day.

Coordinator-san was a nice person. She treated us drinks after work and we got 2 free movie tickets as reward! Unfortunately the movie that we wanted to watch- Kenshin was sold out even before the festival start and it only had 1 session. In the end we decided to watch Thermae Romae with Abe Hiroshi and Bunny Drop with L from Death Note.
My favorite note

It's been awhile since Nite and me volunteered for any Japanese event. It was a cool way to hangout and it's not even hard work. Sydney Street has a lot of eating place, hopefully we can go eat at some of restaurants one day.
